Anti-Virus, Firewall, Spyware & Adware Programs
These are absolute must haves. Though there are many available programs to choose from, we haven't found any that stand out in our minds as being significantly better than the rest. Unless you are extremely computer savvy, we recommend that you stick with a "name brands" program (McAfee, Zone Alarm, Norton/Symantec, etc). Set the ant-virus to check for updates on a daily basis, and at least weekly for your other security programs.

Having tried many programs over the years, we personally use and recommend the following:
Data Backup
Don't lose your important files to a fatal hard drive crash or computer virus!! Few things will bring your life to a screeching halt faster than not being able to access your computer's data. From personal experience, we can tell you it's not a question of if it will happen, but rather when will it happen. Don't let it happen to you!
We can't stress enough the importance of backing up your important data on a weekly basis and burning it to a CD for safe keeping.
